Tamilla started coaching the Jessup team of WIUT in 2018. Her team competed in the National Rounds 2019 and came second.
Why Jessup?
I like the Jessup Cup Competition, because first of all I like Public International Law. Also, Jessup develops a range of useful skills like analytical thinking, public speaking skills as well as legal writing. Jessup gives people a lot of positive emotions and memorable moments.
How has Jessup experience changed you?
My experience as a coach changed me very much. I learned how to work with students, how to motivate them to achieve their goals and how to inspire them. I understood that criticism and negative feedback discourage students and therefore should be avoided.
What was the most memorable moment of your participation in the Jessup?
A couple of hours left before the deadline for submission of memorials. We were still finalizing our memorial and were very nervous that we might not submit it on time. But we managed! And the moment when we submitted were the happiest moments I have ever lived through.
What advice would you give to the future generations of Jessup participants?
Listen to your coach! Do not ignore his/her opinion! Give your best to Jessup!
