Muhammadbobur joined the TSUL’s Jessup team in 2018. Their team was ranked third in the National Championship and was invited to the International Rounds as an Exhibition Team, where Muhammadbobur served as bailiff for a number of rounds.

Why Jessup?

Jessup is a unique way of converging international law students. By learning about each other’s culture and values, we elevate the meaning of the term “international” law to another level. In addition, it is a distinctive way of encouraging students to show their skills and gain some more stressful court environment.

How has Jessup experience changed you?

I have experienced the real world pressure the lawyers face in the International Court of Justice. That’s probably why I expanded my horizon. Besides, I learnt a lot from my opponents on how delivering the statements and giving the answers appropriately.

What was the most memorable moment of your participation in the Jessup?

During the preparation for the national rounds, we had many memorable moments and the most memorable one is when we sent our memorials on time, it was incredible. Moreover, the other one is when we participated in the national dress ball in Washington DC.

What advice would you give to the future generations of Jessup participants?

My first advice for future Jessupers would be to evenly distribute responsibilities and try their best to prepare written memorial perfectly. Besides, improve their legal English and legal research skills, since it is indeed very crucial. Furthermore, they need to work on their speeches a lot so that they do not make contradicting statements.
