Why Jessup?
Jessup is a part of my life. Now and hopefully forever. It is an amazing journey, which brings you to more than just a competition – it is a family, united from all around the World, and passionate about the international law and justice. Since I found out about the competition in the late 2016, there was not a day I didn’t feel it in my life. Jessup changed it, introduced me to awesome opportunities and wonderful people.
How has Jessup experience changed you?
The participation in this competition was the most valuable experience I could ever get to build the better understanding of jurisprudence and law, and to acquire inestimable knowledge and qualification. The incredible and inexpressible atmosphere of the competition, the guidance and recommendations of the greatest legal scholars and practitioners, the inspiring words and advices of the honorable judges motivated me to study hard and work more, and highly encouraged me not to stop, but to prolong striving for excellency and fighting for the law and justice. The friendly ambiance of the competition, along with the whole Jessup Community, significantly influenced my comprehension and views, helped me to understand not only the Jessup Problem and the particular spheres of law, which with my team we researched on for the whole year, but to realize and analyze the different perspectives and opinions of different countries as to the notion of international law and its principles generally.
What was the most memorable moment of your participation in the Jessup?
Impossible to choose one, although the most amazing one was probably the Announcement party. My team did not proceed any further, unfortunately, but what we saw… I will always remember. That’s the moments where you hear the announcement, hear and see people scream and then they leave the bar to continue the journey. That’s when you really realize that for them it’s not the end, their ‘compromis life’ continues, while for you that’s the stop… Motivating? Incredibly.
What advice would you give to the future generations of Jessup participants?
Do it. Feel it. Live it. Strive for it. It will change your life and you will never be the same again. It is worth the struggle.
